On 4th April 2013, an esteemed panel of speakers gathered in Canary Wharf at a ‘Recipes of Success’ event co-hosted by State Street Bank and the City Sikhs Network to talk about what inspired them to succeed in their respective professions.

Highlights of the evening included how it is possible to balance the commitments of a family life whilst building a successful career, the importance of humility, and the fine line between ego and confidence.
One particular topic which provoked much discussion was the possible difficulties that British Asian females have to overcome within their respective professions. The issue of women in the corporate world and the challenges they often encounter is certainly a subject that we at the City Sikhs Network hope to explore in greater depth at future events.
Another thought-provoking subject was about how the British Sikh and Muslim communities can work together for the common good, and the fact that leading members of the Sikh and Muslim communities were sitting side-by-side on the panel helped to make the evening a unique opportunity for such a discussion. The City Sikhs Network is committed to inter-faith work which helps build bridges between British Sikhs and other faith communities.
The evening ended with a networking opportunity for audience members over drinks and canapés.
